The Easter Bunny is coming! - Happy Easter :-)

How many eggs in the Easter basket?

Let's all look for Easter eggs

Easter is in spring time

The Easter bunny is a symbol of the Easter, and the messenger of gifts for children. It has its origins in Germany, where it is mentioned in books since the 17th century.

Symbol of fertility, it is associated with the goddess Easter, which was the god of April or of spring. The rabbit means fertility and new life.

It was first mentioned in Germany, from chocolate and sugar, and the tradition spread on the entire continent and then in the United States.

Easter
Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs.

When is Easter?
Easter usually comes in the month of April. However, Easter can fall as early as March 22nd or as late as April 25th.

Where does the name 'Easter' come from?
Pagan traditions give us the English word "Easter" which comes from the word "Eostre". The Anglo-Saxon word for April was "Eostre-monath" (the month of openings)

Why does the date of Easter move?
Easter is called a moveable feast because the date of Easter changes every year. Easter Sunday can fall on any date from 22 March to 25 April.
The reason for this variation in the date of Easter is based on the lunar calendar (moon) rather than our more well-known solar one.
Easter always falls on the first Sunday following the full Moon (the Paschal Full Moon) after 21st March. If the Full Moon falls on a Sunday then Easter is the next Sunday.
